The Highlands are a historic region of Scotland. They are filled with rugged and mountainous terrain. Highlanders are a hardy and resilient people. The choice to be called Highland Field Hockey is inspired by Coach Bernie's Scottish roots and her late father, who was incredibly supportive of everything she did, but especially her dedication to sport. The Scottish elements are in honour of him.

The stick on our design includes a Celtic knot called a Sailor’s Celtic knot. It depicts two interwoven ropes that create an infinite loop. Sailor’s would weave these to remember their loved ones back on land. It creates a strong bond similar to the life-long bonds we will create through team work. This is dedicated to current loved ones and new future friendships.

The ball on our logo includes a Celtic knot called the Dara knot. It is an interwoven design inspired by the roots of an oak tree. The Dara knot means strength, wisdom and endurance which inspired our catch phrase.
